RelyOn Nutec de Mexico was established in 2013 in Ciudad del Carmen, a city on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The centre is ideally situated to support the major oil and gas, maritime, and industrial markets in the region.
The training centre offers a full suite of safety, water survival and emergency response training and is currently the only OPITO approved centre in Mexico. With a sea/survival pool, working at heights structure, confined spaces tower within its facilities, the centre delivers specialist safety training tailored to clients’ needs. RelyOn Nutec’s full portfolio of training, consultancy, digital services, and competence management has been provided for almost a decade, with the addition of a Drilling & Well Control training suite in 2019.
With a dedicated annexe accredited as an associate Aberdeen Drilling School centre, RelyOn Nutec Mexico offers IWCF & IADC certified well control training at Introductory, Driller and Supervisor levels on a regular basis in Carmen. View the course calendar here.
In addition to well control training, the centre provides Aberdeen Drilling School’s full range of specialist drilling and consultancy services including but not limited to HPHT, Deepwater, MPD and Stuck Pipe Prevention training.
Technical training is available at the centre, virtually, and at the client’s location, with a recent project utilising the latest ADS1-Drill portable simulator to conduct multiple DWOS sessions on-board a cyber rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Read more here.
Luis Sanchez is a bilingual Well Control Specialist and IWCF & IADC accredited instructor with a background in Petroleum Engineering based at the centre. He joined RelyOn Nutec Mexico in 2021 to deliver high quality instruction to IWCF and IADC curriculum standards and provide coaching and competency assessment of drilling, completions workover and well intervention crews both in the classroom and at rig site.

RelyOn Nutec Mexico has unveiled plans for a new centre of excellence to be based in Tampico, Mexico, which at the time of writing, is close to completion with doors opening in the summer of 2022.
The centre will be home to a full-size ADS3-Drill simulator, further expanding the portfolio of technical training to include Enhanced Well Control, Well Operations Crew Resource Management (WOCRM) and truly immersive simulation-based training for complex drilling operations.
