🔔 Aberdeen Drilling School acquired IAS International🔔
Earlier this year Graeme Eglintine and Petru Cioban from IAS International joined a new Aberdeen Drilling School team based out of Dubai, UAE. Being led by Graeme, Aberdeen Drilling International MENA now focus on delivering personnel development, competence and talent management and highly effective operational and technical training services for the fastest growing drilling market in the world.
At IAS International, the team worked closely with drilling contractors and operators to design, develop, and implement robust Competency Management Systems (CMS), and were even commissioned by the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) to conduct a research project on the best practices, lessons learned, and the value metrics of a CMS. ⭐Highlights from 2023⭐
Advanced simulation training for a global operator.
Aberdeen Drilling School are delighted to be our clients training provider of choice for advanced well-specific training. Having completed last year‘s HPHT Engineering workshop, we were selected again this year to complete the training by providing operational HPHT simulation events prior to the well being drilled. We are looking forward to continuing this relationship into 2024 with future global
wells.
ADS’ First IWCF Well Control in Design & Lifecycle Management course! (Level 5)
An operator recently selected Aberdeen Drilling School to provide them with the new IWCF Well Control in Design & Lifecycle Management course (formerly called Level 5). We are currently in the process of development alongside their engineering team and will look for a delivery date of early 2024. This is an exciting new addition to Aberdeen Drilling School’s training portfolio, and will be the first of its kind delivered by us. We will look to also provide this course to other clients in 2024.
Norway Projects are a go!
We have been extremely busy in Norway in 2023 at our centre in Hundvag, Stavanger. Since the beginning of 2023, we have run numerous simulation and specialised training courses for Wintershall, Conoco Phillips, Odfjell and VAR Energi, and are set be continue this with long term programmes with Archer and further complex simulation courses for OMV in 2024.
Enhancing Drilling Performance in Egypt
We spent the first half of 2023 rotating instructors in and out of Cairo, where we rolled out a bespoke Drilling Performance Enhancement training programme for around 225 well-site leaders and senior drill crews on behalf of a major client operating in the Western Desert.
Renewing Ties in Libya
Stabilisation of the political situation in Libya has enabled us to renew our longstanding relationships with the North African country and its National Oil Corporation (NOC) and affiliates. Aberdeen Drilling School developed strong ties with Libya in the late 2000s and, following several visits to Tripoli this year, we see a renewal of positivity and a recognition of the need to develop local capabilities and enhance productivity through training initiatives. We have established a partnership with a local training company and accredited their Tripoli training facility as an IWCF centre. We look forward to a busy 2024 with our Libyan friends.
