BEFORE YOU ATTEND A COURSE

Before a course booking is confirmed, we make every effort to ensure that the prospective training candidate meets the entry requirements and is suited to the course he or she has requested. In order for us to confirm candidate eligibility we will request candidate information. Please be assured that any personal information provided to Aberdeen Drilling School will be processed in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations. For further details, please see our Privacy Policy.

When you find a course you are interested in, please read the course information and familiarise yourself with the pre-requisites and assessment information. If you have any questions about the course, please get in touch.

BEFORE YOU ATTEND IWCF-APPROVED TRAINING

To remain compliant with IWCF certification standards, we will need the following candidate details in order to process a booking request:

Candidate Full Name (as it should appear on the certificate) | Date of Birth | Job Title | IWCF Candidate Registration (CR) Number*

*If a candidate does not yet have an IWCF CR Number, they must register their details online in order to generate their unique 6-digit CR Number: www.iwcf.org/forum

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • If a candidate is from or is currently living/working in an embargoed or sanctioned country according to EU regulations, IWCF must be informed in advance and additional information may be required in order to proceed with a training application.
  • We do not accept bookings for IWCF/IADC instructor level training, unless the instructor candidate is under a train-the-trainer contract with Aberdeen Drilling School. If you would like to discuss our train-the-trainer programme, please contact us directly for details.

BOOKING CONFIRMATION & PAYMENT

Once candidate eligibility is verified, full payment in advance will secure a booking. A booking confirmation email with joining instructions and any relevant pre-course study material will then be sent to the Course Booker.

Where a client contract or written agreement is in place, a purchase order may be used to secure a booking. Bookings secured by a purchase order will be invoiced on the course start date and payment terms will be detailed on the invoice.

Self-sponsored course participants can make payments by credit/debit card or by bank transfer. Please be assured that Aberdeen Drilling School is fully PCI DSS compliant through First Data Merchant Solutions (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard).

Where a signed agreement is used to secure a course booking and where payment in advance is stipulated in the agreement, the payment must be received by our Accounts Department before the course start date. If payment has not been received by the course start date, we, the training provider, reserve the right to cancel the participant’s place on the course.

“COOLING OFF” PERIOD

Under normal circumstances, Aberdeen Drilling School will offer a full “no quibble” refund for all bookings cancelled within the “Cooling Off” period of 7 days* (i.e. one calendar week). If you need to cancel your booking outside of the “Cooling Off” period our Cancellation Policy will apply. Please use this time to ensure that you have accommodation and travel arrangements in place.

*EXCEPTION: If you book a training course which is due to commence within 3 weeks of the booking date, the “Cooling Off” period is 24 hours from the time of booking.

COURSE FEES

Course fees include tuition on the training day(s), all relevant course materials, lunch and refreshments, certification, and examination(s) where applicable. Please note that IWCF or IADC resit examinations are not included in the course fee and will be charged at an additional cost as required. All price quotations provided to you will state whether or not local taxes have been included in the price or not. This varies by location. Please ask for clarification before you make a payment if you are unsure.

RESIT EXAMINATION(S) & RETRAINING FEES

The requirement for additional training and resit assessments will follow IWCF or IADC resit and retraining criteria as appropriate. Retraining and resit assessment fees are not included in the course fee. A member of our Customer Service Team will provide a quote and agree a resit and/or retraining schedule with the Course Booker on a case-by-case basis. In cases where a candidate is required to resit the whole course as a new candidate, the course will be charged at 50% of the list price as long as it is taken within the *resit period. Normal booking procedures and payment terms will apply. To request a copy of the IWCF or IADC resit criteria please contact us.

Please ensure that retraining is scheduled within the required resit period which is 90 days for IWCF courses and 45 days for IADC courses. For further guidance, please contact us directly.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS

Joining instructions (including course start and finish times, venue details, directions to the venue and local accommodation details) will be issued with the booking confirmation email.

If the “Course Booker” is not also the “Course Participant”, it is the responsibility of the Course Booker to ensure that the Course Participant receives the Joining Instructions in full before the course start date. If you are the Course Participant and you have not received your joining instructions five days prior to the course start date, please contact us directly. Aberdeen Drilling School will not be held responsible for non-receipt of joining instructions where the Course Booker has failed to forward the booking confirmation email to the Course Participant.

COURSE TRANSFER POLICY

Requests to transfer a course booking must be made in writing and can be sent by email to bookings@aberdeendrilling.com.

There is no charge for transferring your booking to the same course at the same location on a later date within 6 months of the initial date booked, provided that Aberdeen Drilling School is notified at least 5 working days before the course start date. There is no limit on the number of times you can transfer the booking as long as it is within 6 months of the initial date booked and 5 days’ notice is provided each time the booking is moved. Requests to move a booking past the 6-month period will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in additional charges.

If Aberdeen Drilling School is notified with less than 5 working days’ notice, the full course fee is payable and a “late transfer fee” will be applied to the new booking.
If you wish to transfer a confirmed booking to an alternative Aberdeen Drilling School venue, the request must be submitted at least 5 working days before the confirmed course start date. The change of location will be subject to availability and an administration fee may be applied to the new booking.

COURSE ABANDONMENT

If for any reason a Course Participant is unable to complete the course which they have started, the course fee is payable in full and no refund is available. If the Course Participant is eligible to return within a set period of time* to attend the incomplete modules, a training fee will apply to each day required to complete the course.

*The set time period will depend on IWCF/IADC criteria and may vary depending on the circumstances.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please remember, there may be a limited number of spaces available on each course; once a place has been booked we cannot offer that to another candidate. It is our duty as a responsible training provider to make you aware that we reserve the right to charge a fair and proportionate fee (depending on the notice period given) if a booking is cancelled.

All cancellations must be made in writing.

If you provide 5 or more working days’ notice before the confirmed course start date – A refund may be requested less an administration fee. Alternatively, the Course Booker may transfer the booking to a later course delivered within the following 3-month period or replace the registered candidate with an eligible alternative at no additional cost

If you provide 1-4 working days’ notice before the confirmed course start date – No refund will be available and the full course fee is payable. Course Booker may replace the registered candidate with an eligible alternative at no additional cost or choose to transfer the booking to a later date within the following 3-month period for a “late transfer” or “rebooking” fee.

If you provide 0 working days’ notice, the cancellation will be classed as “non-attendance” – No refund will be available and the full course fee is payable. The Course Booker must make a new booking request and normal booking procedures will apply.

NON-ATTENDANCE

If you fail to attend the course on which you are booked without giving prior notice to Aberdeen Drilling School, no refund will be available and the full course fee is payable.

INVITATION LETTERS

Should a participant require an invitation letter, we are able to provide this as long as full payment of the course fee has been received. Aberdeen Drilling School is not able to act on behalf of the participant and is not responsible for any costs incurred by failure to obtain a Visa. Full course fees less an administration fee will be refunded if a participant has been declined a Visa and has provided proof of this within the required notice period.

CANCELLATION BY ABERDEEN DRILLING SCHOOL

Where circumstances dictate, Aberdeen Drilling School reserves the right to alter published programmes, trainers, fees or venues without prior notice. In the event of a course being cancelled, a refund of the course fee will be made but no compensation will be paid for any additional costs incurred.

ON ARRIVAL AT THE TRAINING CENTRE

Please ensure that you bring valid photographic identification with you on the course start date. For IWCF and IADC certified courses we recommend that you bring your passport with you and keep it on your person throughout your training.

We ask that course participants wear smart casual clothing on training days. Please avoid wearing shorts or open-toed shoes.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR EXAMINATION

For IWCF and IADC certified courses it is vital that each candidate can provide valid photographic identification to be verified by the independent invigilator. PLEASE DON’T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT. Failure to provide the required identification on the day of your exam will cause a lot of unnecessary stress and may result in disqualification from the examination session.

No mobile phones/programmable electronic devices can be used during examinations. We strongly recommend that you read the exam paper carefully and answer all the questions. When you have finished, read through the paper again and double check all your answers. When you leave the classroom, be sure to take all your belongings with you. Please do not disturb the invigilator for exam results.

EXAMINATION RESULTS

Your results will be provided by a member of Aberdeen Drilling School staff as soon as they are available. The results are usually released by the afternoon of the examination date but can take longer for any exams held outside of our permanent training centres. Temporary certificates valid for 90 days are emailed to successful candidates as an attachment to the Exam Results Notice email. Original certificates are forwarded to the Course Booker as soon as they are made available (this process can take up to 90 days for IWCF certificates).

For full details of the IWCF or IADC Examination Policy & Resit Procedures, please contact us.
