This 3-day course provides course participants with a comprehensive understanding of the requirements for Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) Operations with surface wellhead systems. The option of an *additional 1-day module for MPD operations from floating rigs using subsea wellhead systems is also available on request.
This vendor independent course has been designed for operator personnel, wellsite supervisors, drilling engineers, HSE professionals, drill crew and third party service providers. No prior MPD experience is assumed.
There are no formal pre-requisites for this type of training; however, candidate suitability and assumed base knowledge will be discussed and agreed with the client in the initial stages of course development. It is recommended that candidates understand the concepts of hydrostatic pressures and can calculate pressures at depths with various fluids.
The course is delivered over 3 days and is taught through presentation of a series of interactive lectures, case studies and group discussions. The final day provides a series of MPD simulator exercises covering the various MPD operations.
Successful completion of the course will result in an Aberdeen Drilling School certificate.
