A Jack-up is essentially a barge on legs but during rig moves, it becomes a vessel. Drill crew members spend the first few years of their career learning all about the drilling equipment and the well but there is not much focus on the jack-up rig they work and live on. By attending our 5-day Fundamentals of Marine Jack-up Operations course, candidates will develop an awareness and understanding of the procedures, systems, risks, and terminology behind the operation of jack-ups.
Rig moves may not occur frequently on some jack-ups, so providing the drill crew with the fundamental knowledge of ballast control and stability as well as rig move procedures will help minimise the risks associated with this activity. NPT will be reduced, and revenue efficiency improved by increasing the crew’s performance and competence.
This course is designed for personnel in rig and shore-based positions such as Senior Toolpusher, Toolpusher, Driller, Barge Engineer, Contracts Manager, Technical Assistant, OIM and future OIM, Rig Manager, Project Manager.
There are no formal pre-requisites for this level of training, however, this course has been designed for personnel with supervisory responsibilities for the unit, onshore or offshore, or with responsibilities related to the marketing or Marine related technical documentation.
This 2-day course is designed to provide the candidates with the fundamental knowledge of jack-up operations. This course combines lecture discussions and theoretical training.
A written assessment will be conducted on the last day of training with a pass mark of 80%. Successful completion of the course and assessment will result in an Aberdeen Drilling School certificate which is valid for 2 years.
This course is for group bookings only
