Challenge: Analyse client’s existing competence system and propose enhancements against the standards of competence.
Solution: A new bespoke competence management system was designed, utilising an On-The-Rig simulator to conduct training to the crew.
The client engaged the team at Aberdeen Drilling International (Dubai) (formerly IAS International) to evaluate their existing competence system and the standards of competence for all 48 offshore positions.
Using the findings from the analysis, we were able to design a new bespoke competence management system for the client, utilising onboard simulation technology at the core of its design.
A Subject Matter Expert with an On-the-Rig simulator was initially deployed to a Drill Ship in Labuan so that Operational Readiness Assessments, Operator Training and Performance Coaching could be conducted onboard during the rig’s voyage to the operating location in India.
The new competence management system has now been successfully rolled out across the entire client fleet. Assessor Training was also delivered to selected client personnel, enabling them to become qualified assessors and completely self-sufficient.
We continue to partner with our client today by providing New Hire Assessments during the recruitment phase, ensuring that new candidates are competent and ready to undertake safety critical rig positions.
