The 4-week New-Hire Roustabout programme is designed to give participants a working knowledge and understanding of the roustabout’s role and responsibilities. The programme begins in Week 1 with an introduction to drilling technology and equipment and provides participants with an awareness of well control. Week 2 covers safety standards and the importance of best practices, culminating in IADC RigPass certification. The second half of training programme, covered in Weeks 3 & 4, will focus on the specific duties and responsibilities of a roustabout and provide a practical insight into the role.
The programme is designed for new-hire roustabouts.
It is assumed that course participants will have little or no drilling experience but will possess basic mathematics and English language skills. Candidate suitability and assumed base knowledge will be discussed and agreed with the Client in advance of the training.
This 4-week training programme can be tailored to focus on specific areas of development need or the experience levels of the course participants. It is delivered through presentation of a series of interactive lectures, videos and animations, case studies, and facilitated study group discussions. The instructors facilitating this programme have extensive operational experience and excellent communication and coaching skills.
Successful completion of the coursework and assessments will result in both IADC RigPass certification and an Aberdeen Drilling International certificate which is valid for life and does not need to be repeated or renewed.
