Stuck pipe is the primary cause of non-productive time and should not be considered as an inevitable drilling hazard. This course aims to provide fishing operators and/or engineers with an enhanced understanding of the principles, methodologies, practicalities and risks associated with fishing and sidetracking operations. During this course, participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to mitigate the effects of stuck pipe and recover fish.
This course is designed as a supplementary module to be added onto a Stuck Pipe Prevention course for fishing operators and/or engineers.
There are no formal pre-requisites for this level of training, but previous involvement in drilling operations is assumed.
This half-day classroom-based course is designed to be an optional add on to Stuck Pipe Prevention training but is also available as a standalone module. Training is delivered through a series of interactive lectures, short video clips, graphics, worked examples and group discussion.
The worked examples that complement the learning modules allow the course participants to demonstrate their understanding of the subjects covered.
To encourage group discussion and maximise engagement with the material, course participants are divided into teams to review relevant case studies, discuss the issues raised, and consider the relevance to their own operations, i.e. what could have been done better etc..
On successful completion of the final assessment, participants will be awarded an Aberdeen Drilling School certificate valid for 2 years (24 months).
This course is for group bookings only
